Allison Veltman - Speech- Language Pathologist

Started at Helping Hands in March 2020

Allison is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist in the state of Illinois and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She earned her Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders from Northern Illinois University (2011). Allison has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 

Allison has experience as a speech-language pathologist working with children ages pre-K through junior high. She has had the opportunity to be a part of an amazing team of professionals working to support deaf & hard of hearing students. She also has worked in several classrooms designed to meet the learning and communication needs of preschool age students with autism. Allison has experience working with children with a variety of disabilities/needs including those with Down Syndrome, Selective Mutism, Apraxia of Speech, Speech Sound Disorders (articulation, phonological), Dyslexia, Developmental delays, and Intellectual disabilities. Allison has completed Lindamood-Bell training in the “LiPS” phoneme sequencing program designed to support growth in reading, spelling, and speech. Allison has completed the SOS Approach to Feeding Training including SOS Approach for School-Aged Children.

 

Allison enjoys hiking/backpacking and traveling with her husband, gardening, long walks with her dog Calo, and spending time with family/friends. She is so glad to be part of the Helping Hands team!
